Behavior Management
The management of children’s behavior will be accomplished through positive reinforcement of desired behavior, diversion from undesirable behavior, or temporary (supervised) withdrawal from class activity. Spanking or other use of physical force or restraint will never be used.
Verbal abuse, including threatening remarks about a child or parent will not be used. Children who fail continuously to respond to these strategies will be calmly accompanied by a teacher to the office and left with the Director for further action. In such cases, the Director will communicate with the parent.
Teachers will confer with parents to identify mutual strategies for correcting a child’s undesirable behavioral patterns. The Director will be available for such conferences as needed. Our goal of developing positive and meaningful relationships with each child and parent, we believe, will eliminate the potential for most behavioral problems.
